Mumbai: Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in data storage, today announced the general availability of a bus-powered FireWire version of the revolutionary new Iomega REV drive in India through its channel partners - Ingram Micro, Neoteric and Tech Pacific.

The new Iomega REV 35GB 1394 / FireWire drive gives Mac users an elegant, high-performance device for backup and large file portable storage, combining the speed and ease of use of a hard drive with the removability of tape or optical products. It would enable easy transporting and archiving of large files, as well as transforming the backup process.

Iomega REV drive is available in USB 2.0 and internal ATAPI models, with SCSI and Serial ATA models planned for later this year. The Iomega REV drive was recently honoured with a "best of CeBIT America" award for personal hardware. It also received the "PC Magazine Editors' Choice" - June 22, 2004 issue.

Iomega REV drives are 10x77x75mm, with 35 GB of storage space - seven times more than standard DVD discs and delivers read-write performance of up to 25mb per second. It comes in a distinct two-tone design in white and light grey and is bus-powered for convenient use without power supply.

REV disks are rated for over one million re-writes and are engineered for a long shelf life, estimated to exceed 30 years. It is designed for high durability - sensitive components like the read/write heads and electronics are located in the REV drive for protection. Bundled Software
Iomega REV FireWire comes bundled with a software suite that provides for scheduled or automatic file backup, full system backup and recovery, and software-based compression. The feature is available to Mac users with the included Dantz Retrospect Express software, and to PC users with the included Iomega Automatic Backup Pro software and the included Symantec Norton Ghost for REV software.

Compatibility and Requirements
For Mac users, the new REV FireWire drive is a 6-pin FireWire 400 device that supports Mac OS X v10.1.5 and above. For PC users, supported operating systems include Microsoft Windows XP Home and Professional; Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition; and Windows 2000 Server/Professional/Advanced Server (SP3 and SP4). A power supply is included for use when daisy-chaining FireWire devices or when using 4-pin FireWire connections.

Price, Availability & Warranty
The new Iomega REV 35GB drive with FireWire interface including one disk is available in India through Iomega's channel partners - Ingram Micro, Neoteric and Tech Pacific, at a suggested retail price (SRP) of Rs19,900 plus taxes.

It is also available in USB 2.0 external (SRP of Rs19,900 with one disk included) and ATAPI internal (SRP Rs18,900, with one disk included) configurations. Iomega REV drives come with a one-year warranty while Iomega REV disks come with a five-year warranty.
