Sify and D-Link to provide Wi-Fi links news

Mumbai: Networking major, D-Link India Ltd and India's leading Internet, networks and e commerce services provider, Sify Limited have teamed up to strengthen India's network ok of Wi-Fi internet access areas.

India currently has three times the number of Wi-Fi wire-free internet access areas than China's and the number is growing exponentially. Sify has already established such access points, called hotspots, Wi-Fi hotspots with broadband connectivity in Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi using D-Link wireless technology.

Sify has established around 120 hotspots in Bangalore. With this, the city has joined a select list of global cities that include New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, London and Melbourne to be wirelessly enabled.

The Chennai and Delhi airports, also Wi-Fi enabled by Sify, have acquired the distinction of being the first Indian airports with this new age facility.

With convergence, Sify has also started providing video conferencing, called 'i-Meet', to its customers. This facility, provisioned over Sify's tier 1 backbone infrastructure using D-link technology, is available at the iWay's and to its corporate customers.
