Bangalore: The disk storage systems market registered a growth of 15.1 per cent in value terms to reach $34.1 million during the second quarter of the calendar 2003, according to IDC India.

This further translates into 974 terabyte installations during the quarter, recording a 24.3-per cent growth.

This is consistent with an established trend whereby the growth in capacity exceeds the growth in value, reflecting a trend of reduction in dollars per gigabyte, says IDC. "It also reflects the ongoing demand for storage capacity even though India and other countries are facing uncertainties due to the economic downturn, the Iraq war and SARS scare among others."
