New Delhi: To commemorate the birth anniversary of late Dewang Mehta, National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) today announced its support for the Indian team that is participating at the International Olympiad in Informatics 2003. This is scheduled to be held at University of Wisconin-Parkside, USA, from 16-20 August 2003.

Nasscom's support in the form of sponsorship towards travel and stay for the four students and two faculty members that will be representing India at this event reiterates its commitment to the vision and dream of Mehta of making India an IT powerhouse and enable the benefits of IT to reach the masses in the country.

Mehta believed that the primary reason for India's success in the software field was due to the Indian education system and the level of competition that is embedded at an early stage and Nasscom's support for this competition is to reinforce this belief.

The International Olympiad in Informatics is one of the premier competitions wherein Indian students will compete with students from across 80 countries and get an opportunity to interact and share knowledge and best practices.
