Hyderabad: The city-based Indian School of Business (ISB) will soon have another hi-tech facility, ''IP Conference,'' for its students.

The main objective of the facility is to connect ISB students with the Fortune 1000 companies for online interviews. This feature ensures the students to attend interviews any time. Perhaps ISB is the first B-school in Asia to have and use this know-how technology for students.

However, some product development centres of multinational corporations (MNCs), including Cisco, have ''IP Conference'' facility in India basically to interact with their R&D centres and headquarters.

"We are introducing IP Conference soon as a value-add feature for students," says ISB director (IT) V Seetharamaiah. "The facility is almost ready; we are doing the final testing now."

The global institution has already introduced videoconferencing, audio-video classes an presentation, wireless LAN and email service. The campus also boasts of the fibre-optic cable network in place and running. It has 1Mbps connectivity, which will be scaled to 2 Mbps. The IP Conference facility is part of the ongoing projects this year.

ISB is a global business school providing high-quality management education to students. It has an enviable profile of promoters featuring the who''s who in the industry, and an equally impressive faculty. Students clear their GMAT to study with their peers at the Wharton School, Kellogg School of Management, and London Business School (LBS) through videoconference facilities. They pay a fee of Rs 10 lakh per annum and all carry laptops.

"Students can login anywhere, be it at the poolside, the gym or by the lake. The aim is that while at work, the creativity of students should not be curtailed. Students have the option of working on their projects, sitting in groups anywhere in the campus. All they need to do is to insert the LAN card on their laptops," says Seetharamaiah.

ISB has spent approximately Rs 30 crore so far for building the IT infrastructure since its inception. This year, the institution earmarked a budget of Rs 6 crore for IT. ISB students are upbeat, as the slowdown in the sector globally has had no impact on placements.
