Southern Online Bio Technologies Ltd (SBT) says it has become the country''s first supplier of biodiesel from its 40,000 liters per day capacity manufacturing site in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, Southern Online Bio Technologies Sale of biodiesel by SBT Biodiesel plantset up at an investment of Rs25.72 crore.

The plant is being operated under the supervision of the engineers of its German technology providers, Lurgi AG, Germany and its Indian partner CCI of New Delhi for two - three months for testing various sections of the plant under operating conditions, before being handed over to SBT.

During this period SBT''s own staff would be trained to manage the production independently.

According to SBT, it has already supplied biodiesel to well reputed customers like Idea Cellular, L&T, Southern Rocks and Minerals Pvt Ltd, ABT Parcel services, TNT Express couriers, Coke etc.

It has also started participating in the tenders for the supply of the fuel to public transporters, Indian Railways and to Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.

The road transporter had floated tenders in April for the yearly supply of over 11.5 million litres of biodiesel, while Indian Railways has called for tenders for the daily supply of 140,000 litres of biodiesel.
