Dhirubhai Ambani, chairman, Reliance Industries Limited, emerges as 'India's most admired CEO' in a survey done by Taylor Nelson Sofres-Mode (TNS-Mode). The results of this exclusive opinion poll will be published in the third anniversary issue of Business Barons. The magazine hails Dhirubhai as the 'Icon of the century', and says that his "success story is the stuff of which legends are made".
The Ambani family has struck it rich in the survey. Besides Dhirubhai, the most admired CEOs list includes both his sons Mukesh Ambani, vice-chairman and managing director of RIL and Anil Ambani, its managing director. (See table below for results).
Dhirubhai Ambani secures the top position among the most admired CEOs with highest ranks on the parameters of 'leadership', 'integrity' and 'vision'. On the parameter 'technology orientation', he ranks second to Infosys Technologies chairman N R Narayan Murthy. "A cult figure on the stock market, the chairman of the Reliance Group is today an internationally acclaimed business leader talked about in the same breath as Jack Welch and Bill Gates," the magazine says about Dhirubhai.
The survey, done by TNS-Mode, the Indian affiliate of the world's second largest market research agency, reflects the perceptions of CEOs and senior managers in India.
