French, Philippine companies to invest in food processing sector in Kerala

Kochi: France-based horticulture consultancy group, Cirad, and a company from the Philippines are keen to invest in the food processing sector in Kerala.

This was disclosed by a high-level delegation from the two countries, during their meeting with officials from Kerala.

Cirad's Claude Tesson, and Domingo N Gelacio and the Philippines' Lorencco C Duouer held preliminary discussions here on Friday with officials of the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra).

The companies were interested in investing in the areas of research, trade and processing of food products, according to a release from the Kinfra.

Domingo said he was impressed by the quality of bananas from Kerala and his company was interested in its processing, even though the Philippines was a land of bananas.

The delegation also met some of the experts and business representatives in the field.
