Chennai: The Madras High Court yesterday gave a free hand to the Board of Control for Cricket in India to choose its production unit for direct telecast of the matches.

In his interim order on a writ petition filed by Zee Telefilms challenging the cancellation on September 21, 2004 by the BCCI of the award of the tender for the telecast to the channel, justice K P Sivasubramaniam said that he was following the Supreme Court's order which prevailed prior to the India-Australia cricket series in 2004.

The judge said that the final order on the writ petition would be delivered later.
