CNBC Autocar Auto Awards

The Honda City was judged 'Car of the year 2003,' while Ford Endeavour was adjudged SUV of the year. Bajaj Wind won the first ever CNBC Autocar Bike of the Year title and Maruti Udyog Ltd won the 'Manufacturer of the Year' title for its overall performance in 2003.

Other winners included Tata Safari EXi, Mercedes Benz SL500, Chevrolet Optra and Chevrolet Forester

For the first time ever, the auto ancillary industry was acknowledged at the CNBC Autocar Auto Awards, Bharat Forge, MICO and the Anand Group were recognized for their exemplary performance in product development and manufacturing of auto components.

Chevrolet Optra also received the 'The Best Value for Money Car' award while Mercedes SL 500 was adjudged the 'Most Technologically Advanced Car' and for the car with the 'Best Design & Styling.'

The most improved car of the year title was given to Tata Safari EXi while the title of 'Best Driver's Car' was given to Chevrolet Forester.

The industry representatives at the CNBC Autocar Auto Awards included Onkar Kanwar, CMD-Apollo Tyres, HDFC's Aditya Puri, Dr. Sumantran, executive director-Tata Motors, Mr. Jagdish Khattar, managing director, Maruti Udyog Ltd, Mr. Aditya Vij, MD-General Motors, Bharat Forge MD, Mr. Baba Kalyani, Mr Alan Durante, CEO-Mahindra & Mahindra and Mr. Hans-Michael Huber, MD & CEO Daimler Chrysler India.
