The Group of Ministers (GoM) empowered to look into the allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi will meet for the first time today after the sporting event came to an end last week.

The GoM is headed by union urban development minister Jaipal Reddy. The meeting will be attended by under-fire CWG organising committee (OC) chairman Suresh Kalmadi.

The GoM is also expected to extend the terms of all officers sent on deputation to the organising committee so that they are available while the probe into the conduct of the games is on, so as to ensure proper documentation of the purchases and payments made by the OC.

The GoM would look into aspects of the games organisation, like work allocated to different government agencies including the Delhi Development Authority, and where they failed.

Other agencies under the scanner include the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), and the Public Works Department (PWD).

"The Games have been staged really successfully but all complaints or alleged irregularities regarding transactions by any agencies must be thoroughly looked into," Reddy said.
