Pune: Piaggio Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., a unit of Piaggio & CSpa of Italy, today announced the national launch of the "apé Xtra" and "apé Xtra LD". The company says the "apé Xtra" and "apé Xtra LD" have been meticulously engineered to deliver higher outputs on all critical parameters, which is likely to set a whole new standard in three-wheeler performance, the company said. The Piaggio apé Xtra has an extra strong cold-rolled loading platform with additional reinforcement for enhanced strength and to give longer durability to the tray. A bigger diametre main shaft in the gearbox ensures extra performance and reliability. Other features include a robust cage bearing, an aesthetically sleek and smart instrument cluster, and a specially developed high wear resistant cork material that doubles the clutch life. The new "apé Life" engine oil which offers longer change period of 10,000km, reduces periodical maintenance cost (related to lubrication) by 50 per cent. Salient features of the apé Xtra LD includes an extra long deck that is increased to 1660 mm (180 mm longer) making it the longest load body vehicle in its category, which provides extra space, extra volume and of course, extra earnings and profits per trip. To guarantee extra stability for the longer deck, the apé Xtra LD has the longest wheelbase in its category, measuring 2100 mm. The company provides an extended 20-month warranty that's unique to Piaggio. Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) is a 100-per cent subsidiary of Piaggio & CSpa of Italy. The company, which commenced operations in India in 1999, is a market leader in the light transport vehicle (diesel) segment.
