One of India's leading manufacturers of inorganic chemicals, Tata Chemicals Ltd. also produces fertilisers and food additives. It was set up by Kapil Ram Vakil as Okhamandal Salt Works in 1927 before being taken over by the Tata Group in 1937 and incorporated in 1939.
