The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is a full-fledged horizontally integrated petroleum company and one of the leading public sector undertakings in India. It owns and operates more than 11,000 kms of pipelines in India, including nearly 3,200 kms of sub-sea pipelines. It has a turnover Rs.483 billion. It has two subsidiaries, ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) and Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL).
OVL has so far acquired 15 properties in 14 foreign countries. It has already earned its first hydrocarbon revenue from its investment in Vietnam.
Crude oil and natural gas exploration and production, production of value-added products like C2-C3, LPG, naphtha and SKO and refining of petroleum products. ONGC contributes over 84 per cent of Indian's oil and gas production.
In July 2005, ONGC Videsh Limited signed an MoU with Mittal Investments Sarl, the investment holding arm of Mittal Steel, the world''s largest steel company, to form ONGC Mittal Energy Ltd. (OMEL). ONGC is now entering LNG (regasification), petrochemicals, power generation, as well as crude and gas shipping.
With its headquarters in Dehradun, Uttaranchal, ONGC has offices in seven cities and training institutes in four locations.
