Introduction
The Indian Hotels Company Limited and its subsidiaries are collectively known as Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. Taj Hotels includes 75 hotels spread across India and other countries. The first of these, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai, was opened in 1903 by the founder of the Tata Group, Jamsetji N. Tata. Taj Hotels properties are grouped under luxury, leisure and business categories. The company operates Taj Air, a luxury private jet operation with Falcon 2000 aircrafts. Taj Hotels established the Indian Institute of Hotel Management in Aurangabad, Maharashtra state, in 1993. Indiatravel, headquartered in Mumbai, is also a part of Taj Hotels.
