Second opinion from US based doctors for Rs 525

For a premium of Rs 525 (inclusive of service tax) the e-Opinion policy offers a personal accident insurance death only cover for Rs 50,000 and also the facility to get expert medical opinion from three US hospitals thrice during the policy period. For this purpose the company has tied up with WorldCare Inc, USA.

According to Easwara Narayanan, zonal manger, South, if a policyholder contracts any one or more of the life threatening diseases like cancer, heart attack, coronary artery disease, stroke, renal failure, sudden blindness, multiple sclerosis, coma, paralysis, major burns and others, he can get a second opinion on his health condition through Bajaj Allianz General Insurance by submitting his medical records.

The records submitted with the case history will be digitised at the insurer's headquarters in Pune and electronically transmitted to one of the member medical centres of WorldCare — The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Duke University Health System, and Partners HealthCare System that includes the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

The policyholder will get a written evaluation by an appropriate clinical specialist or sub-specialist from the WorldCare consortium and also the preferable line of treatment. If need be, the policyholder can go for a follow up consultation or a conference call between the policyholder's doctor and the WorldCare consultant could also be held.

The policy excludes pre-existing medical condition for a period of 90 days, sexually transmitted diseases, congenital problems, treatment arising due to or traceable to pregnancy, occupational diseases, death due to suicide, self inflicted injury and others.
