Mumbai: Union Bank of India plans to issue credit cards for small business units, professionals and self-employed persons. These cards, to be issued shortly, will be on the lines of Kisan Credit Card, and will be termed as Laghu Udyami Credit Card. According to a press release, the bank has been encouraging self-help groups by establishing banking linkages and providing financial assistance. It has established over 500 linkages and rendered assistance to over 200 self-help groups in south India. Over 3,000 credit cards have also been issued in this region.
