Commonwealth Bank of Australia opens branch in Mumbai
25 Aug 2010
Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the country's second-largest bank, today announced the opening of a commercial banking branch in Mumbai, as it looks to gain from increasing India-Australia financial transactions.
Commonwealth Bank has already established a representative office in India, in Bangalore.
CBA, the largest Australian bank by market capitalisation, will provide remittance facilities and trade finance to facilitate bilateral trade among others to customers in Asia's third-largest economy.
CBA has an international customer service team to provide advance assistance to visitors or newcomers to the country with all their banking needs.
With more than 1,000 branches, over 4,000 ATMs and over 3,700 agencies across Australia, CBA also offers customers NetBank, its internet banking website.
Like other Australian banks, CBA is also increasingly looking at Asian economies, especially China, India and Indonesia, to grow business as trade with the West continues to decline amidst a fresh crop of financial problems in Europe.
