Have problems with your Internet connection? Can't connect, connection breaks, speed is exasperatingly slow? What's the cause? The cause is poor bandwidths. Digital signals move back and forth through cables or air channels. The greater their width, the greater the amount of traffic that can flow through them. In India our problem has been that we have had access to limited bandwidth. Some uses, such as virtual private networks, Internet telephony, and e-commerce need only medium or medium to high bandwidth. Certain other applications need high bandwidths. For example, Internet browsing and video-based applications need high bandwidth. Where you need very high bandwidths is web servers and call centres. In India, all that we've got so far is medium bandwidths. Now that's changing, with new technologies and more competition.
