Laloo urged opposition not to boycott Railway budget news
06 July 2004

New Delhi: Commenting on the opposition's threat to boycott the railway budget, Laloo Prasad Yadav, has said that he hopes that "better sense would prevail."

"I will present my budget to the people of this nation. Whether anyone boycotts the proceedings or not is of little significance to the budget. But I feel that the NDA leadership should accept its defeat gracefully and allow the constitutional process to take place," Yadav told press persons on Monday.

Yadav will present his maiden railway budget on Tuesday but the NDA has said that it would not participate in the proceedings to mark its protest against, what it terms, as "tainted ministers" in the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance government.
