Delhi government pulls out all stops to meet CWG timeline

In frantic efforts to catch up with the timeline for the completion of the Commonwealth Games projects, Delhi chief minister Shiela Sikshit today reviewed the progress of construction at a high level meeting and directed her cabinet colleagues to closely monitor the progress of the projects on a daily basis.

Dikshit told the ministers to go all out to ensure completion of the ongoing construction activities by 31 August.

The cabinet is said to have discussed various issues related to the preparation of the city for the mega sporting event.

The chief minister is said to have told her cabinet colleagues not get demoralised by the negative reports of the preparations in the media and asked them to concentrate on making the event a grand success.

The Delhi government is under severe attack for the tardy pace at which the construction is progressing for the mega event wtih several key projects far from complete. According to officials some of the projects may not see completion before the 31 August final deadline.

According to chief secretary Rakesh Mehta, the Barapulla Nallah elevated road project may not be completed by 31 August.
