Mumbai:
Wipro Technologies, the global technology services division
of Wipro Limited (NYSE:WIT) and the first PCMM Level 5
and SEI CMM Level 5 certified IT Services Company globally
has launched its Series 60 Competence Centre agreement
with Nokia. Wipro will provide smart phone development
and integration services for handset manufacturers that
have the licensed Series 60 Platform.
Series
60 is currently one of the leading smart phone platforms
in the world. It is licensed by mobile phone manufacturers
including Siemens, Samsung, Panasonic, and Nokia. The
success of the platform amongst the licensees ensures
a large Series 60 device base and a diverse product portfolio.
As
a Series 60 Competence Centre provider, Wipro will offer
software development, backed by its understanding of the
requirements for end-to-end Series 60 Platform software
and hardware integration. If required, Wipro will manage
an entire Series 60 Platform integration project.
Speaking
on the occasion, Dr. Rao, President of Telecom & Inter-Networking
Solutions Division, Wipro Technologies said, We
look forward to building on our strong relationship with
Nokia and being part of a leading-edge company and the
development of its future mobile technologies. Wipros
extensive resources, experience and unique quality processes
will help successful projects arrive on time and budget.
We
are delighted to have a new, such a highly respected member
joining the Series 60 Product Creation Community. Competence
Centres, such as Wipro, are companies that have already
a proven track record in the industry. They benefit the
licensees with reduced time-to-market when developing
smart phones based on Series 60.
Wipro will extend the scale and scope of the Community''s
offering significantly, said Jukka Riivari, Director,
Terminal Platform Sales, Nokia.
Nokia
introduced the Series 60 Product Creation Community a
year ago at 3GSM World Congress in Cannes. The Competence
Centres in the community are companies that are equipped
with proficient
and knowledgeable resources and understand requirements
for end-to-end software and hardware integration on time
and budget.
