Bangalore: Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro, today unveiled a state-of-the-art Rational Competency Centre (RCC) at the Floating Learning Centre of Wipro’s Electronic City campus in Bangalore.

Wipro’s competencies, built through the RCC, will help improve quality and predictability of software projects and lead to faster implementations due to conformity of software platform with the client. Wipro will also offer consulting services on rational tools and methodologies, including Rational Unified Process. Ninety-eight of the Fortune 100 companies are working on Rational as a software platform, and the centre will help Wipro provide value-added services to these companies.

Wipro’s Rational Certified Trainers are expected to build on the company’s competence on Rational tools and methodologies by certifying over 150 employees on the latest Rational technologies. As part of this strategic relationship, Rational will provide regular updates on their latest methodologies and tools. The Rational-Wipro relationship is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on training and research and is part of the Talent Transformation initiative for bringing the latest in technology to Wipro employees.

The centre will provide our customers with improved predictability of software projects, and seamless implementation of large and complex projects,” says Wipro Technologies CEO Vivek Paul. “The centre will provide a constant learning continuum that will add value to our employees and the customers they serve.”

The state-of-the-art lab is well equipped with licenses of the Rational Enterprise Suite, and Rational Suite Realtime and 500 licenses for the Web Based Trainings on Rational Unified Process (RUP). This web-based training programme will encourage self-learning and online training at the employees’ convenience. The competency centre has a well-equipped library, dedicated to books and publications on methodologies and tools from Rational.

Rational Software is conducting a series of training sessions, which aims to create expertise in the three streams of object orientation, configuration management, and testing. The sessions conducted by leading experts in each field will have stringent processes for certifying Wipro trainers. Rational certified trainers will be contributing to white papers and as members of the Rational Development Network they would have access to the latest of technologies from Rational.
