Twitter services went down this morning for a brief period and many users across the world reported problems logging in to the micro-blogging website for a few minutes.

"Twitter was down for 15 minutes and honestly that was the boringest 15 minutes of my life," said a user @jennyturtlee.

The website displayed a message, "Something is technically wrong. Thanks for noticing - we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon" during the down time.

According to isitdownrightnow, the microblogging network was facing ''a likely service disruption.''

However, when Twitter came back on again users vented their anger on the platform.

''Between 6:23 am and 6:33 am PST, some users were experiencing issues accessing Twitter via mobile and the Web. This issue has now been resolved. We apologise for any inconvenience,'' Twitter said in a blog post.

The service had seen several disruptions over the recent past, with one outage reported on 15 January.

There was speculation that the service went offline due to LA Laker's basketball player Kobe Bryant's last game after a strong 20-season career in the NBA. The game started at 1 pm (local US time), when coincidentally Twitter went down. Remarkably, a fan page of the superstar player, three years back predicted that Bryant's retirement would break Twitter.

Although, the full impact of the outage was yet to be known, the outage had affected users in Australian and the US.

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey who is currently in Australia told a news outlet that the company had more work to do in helping the social network's users stop the scourge of online abuse.
