Tata Motors, Honda Siel announce price hikes

Mumbai: Tata Motors has raised the prices of its popular sports utility vehicle, Safari, and multi-utility vehicle, Sumo, by up to Rs15,000.

The Safari would be dearer by Rs10,000-15,000 depending on the models, while the 'Sumo' variants would be costlier by Rs5,000, company officials said.

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) has also announced a hike in the price of its sedans by up to Rs12,801. Effective January 6, the prices of its sedan models 'City' and 'Civic', would go up by one to 1.2 per cent, the company said in a statement.

While the City variants would see an increase in price of between Rs5,241 and Rs8,481, the 'Civic' variants would be costlier by Rs12,801, the statement added.

Both Tata Motors and Honda Siel attributed the hike in prices to rising input costs and other inflationary pressures.
