Toyota showcases the new iQ concept city car at Geneva Motor Show

Geneva, Switzerland: Japanese carmaker Toyota unveiled the new iQ city car at the Geneva Auto Show on Tuesday.

The finished version of new iQ city car, introduced in Frankfurt last year, is a clever concept designed for the city.

The company says that the iQ will be offered with a choice of one diesel and two gasoline engines. It expects to sell 100,000 iQs in the first full year of production.

Although the car measures 117.51 inches, Toyota says it is the world's smallest four-seater car, which can easily fit four people with its innovative design.

The iQ can achieve such tight packaging, thanks to Toyota's engineers, who have come up with a clever cabin system that allows three adults and one child to sit in comfort, despite the iQ's diminutive, almost Smart-car dimensions.

Interestingly the design team has reduced the size of the air conditioning unit without compromising performance. The front seating can be moved closer to the windscreen to create additional cabin space behind.
