Mumbai: The prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer Longines has announced the launch of its DolceVita Round collection in India. In 1997, this collection made its debut as a stylish rectangle. It affected a convincing comeback in the year 2000 as a coolly balanced square. And today, its come around to a full circle… round-cased and superb.

Longines DolceVita, a discreet sculpted piece of yellow gold or stainless steel jewellery, confirms the company''s universally appealing sense of elegance. Longines features three case shapes in its DolceVita product line, and each line in turn offers a variety of styles and sizes.

Perfectly attuned to its intended market, the round shape comes in five sizes: mini, ladies', midsize, men's and men's chronograph. Some models are available in 18k yellow gold; others in impeccably polished stainless steel. All of the latter come with a choice of stainless steel, 18k gold bracelet, or leather straps and a number of feminine models, with a satin strap. Some designs even include a diamond-set bezel available in three setting variants. In India the Longines DolceVita Round collection starts at Rs 36,000.

Says Swatch Group India country manager G Kannan: "The DolceVita collections are designed to appeal to a broad range of consumers, undoubtedly contemporary in outlook and lifestyle, yet harbouring a discreet but definite penchant for classic style."

The round Longines DoleeVita product line's cool classic style takes the design's built-in luxury totally in stride. The stainless steel smooth, silken texture confirms the quality of finishing operations throughout, not to mention the trim push piece-operated deployment buckle and the diamond-set bezel featuring a choice of 12,32 to 40, or even 60 to 100 gemstones. It frames and invariably glare-proofed sapphire crystal protecting a matt white, metallic grey, black or even, on some feminine models, a copper-toned dial.

From dawn''s early light to night's deepest magic, never will a Longines DolceVita design prove out of place or out of touch with circumstances. Discreetly testifying to its owner''s unerring sense of style, it always suggests that the avant-garde is no further away than your own wrist.

Definitely dominating this product line, quartz technology comes packaged with unrivalled compactness here — as high quality 'flat line' movements, all equipped with a practical battery end-of-line (EOL) warning signal and all, except the smaller-sized models, also featuring a date aperture. What''s more, in salute to tradition, one masculine design has even been fitted with a self-winding mechanical movement.

Longincs is a member of Swatch Group, the world's leading watch manufacturer and marketer, with no fewer than 157 production sites in Switzerland. Swatch Group is the official timekeeper and data-handling operator for the Olympic Games in Athens, Torino, Beijing and other cities.
