Satyam to set up learning centre for the families of employees

Hyderabad: Come 1 April 2003, the family members of the employees of Satyam Computer Services have reason to cheer.

Satyam, India's one of the top five software companies, has recently announced the setting up of a learning centre for the families of Satyamites — the initiative to be formally commenced from Fools Day.

This, perhaps a new trend in the Indian human resource practices, will enable over 10,000 families of Satyamites access to tools and services that will help them acquire new skills and enhance their knowledge, which are necessary to stay ahead in today's information age.

Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju disclosed this at 'Satyamotsav 2003' — the sports, literary and cultural festival of the company — an annual event celebrated in all the offices of Satyam, transcending geographies across 45 countries in five continents.

Recognising the unstinted support of all Satyamites and the contributions of their families in building Satyam into a truly global organisation, Raju said. “Satyam is not only about its associates, but also reaches out to its extended families.“

The learning centre will help the families of Satyamites leverage the knowledge drawn from the experiences of every associate in Satyam over the years and from outside. Underscoring the Satyam credo of every Satyamite being a leader, he said: “In today's world, leadership means recognising market needs and responding to them in real time; leadership is by everybody in Satyam.“
