Samsung launches largest LCD TV in India with LED technology news
22 September 2007
Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. today announced the launch of the largest commercially available full high-definition LCD TV in the Indian market. This full high- density LCD TV with a 70-inch screen size combines the latest in high definition picture technology with an inspired, timeless design is also the First TV with LED / SmartLighting technology that is being introduced in the Indian market.

Samsung, which is the global leader in LCD TVs, has maintained its premium standard by packaging this 70" LCD TV with its patented full HD 1080p super clear LCD panel and wide colour enhancer to deliver superior HD quality with blacker blacks, more vivid colours and ultra-sharp images.

LED SmartLighting uses multiple LED backlight units. The TV intuitively senses the TV signal and adjusts the brightness level by turning on and off the right combination of the backlight units to produce a stunning dynamic contrast ratio of 500,000 to 1.And, because the TV uses LED technology, now it is one of the most environmentally friendly TV options available. Samsung was also able to achieve significant reductions in power usage, more than 30 per cent.

"LED technology is the technology of the future," says R Zutshi, deputy managing director, Samsung India. "We''re confident about it and believe there is significant demand for it in the marketplace, especially for TVs of this calibre and size. That is the reason we are introducing it in India, simultaneous with its introduction in other parts of the world," he added. Samsung had showcased this model for the first time at the recently concluded IFA Show in Berlin.

Despite all the new technology, Samsung says it has not compromised on design, sound, ease-of-use or connectivity features of this television.

The concept of the TVs maintains Samsung''s reputation for innovative designs with a piano black, high gloss body set off by elegantly soft corners and titanium fittings that display a luxury feel without ostentation.

The Trusurround XT stereo system in this model comes complete with two built-in subwoofers that are neatly hidden from view and that drive more power into the lower frequencies of the 2.2 channel stereo. The unique design of the speaker unit separates the tweeters and allows for a wider frequency range, delivering a more dynamic sound quality with deeper bass and higher treble.

This television also comes with Wiselink USB 2.0 for handy connections to digital cameras and MP3 players, and three HDMI connections that allow the users to take advantage of the full HD capability of their various components, such as Blu-ray players, game consoles, and HD camcorders.

With the introduction of this model, Samsung, which is a market leader in the fast growing LCD TV market in India, has a range of 12 LCD TV models in the 19" to 70" screen size, priced in the range between Rs21,000 to Rs24,00,000 range. Samsung currently has three series of LCD TVs - Sonoma Trenz; Bordeaux Art and the Full HD Mosel Blaque being sold in the Indian market.
