C S Bansal, whole-time director of the board of Maytas Infra resigned on Friday in the wake of the state government announcing a probe into the company which had bagged several prestigious projects including the Hyderabad Metro with other consortium partners. Bansal will, however, continue as president, oil and transportation sector ayt Maytas according to a company statement. B Narasimha Rao will take over as an additional director of the company. The board now comprises thee member including Teja Raju, the son of Ramalinga Raju and an independent director RP Raju. The company's top slot has been shrinking since last month. Also there has been no overall incharge since Ramalinga Raju's 7 January confession; Teja Raju has also been staying away from the workplace for the last 20 days, while independent director R P Raju, a medical doctor, is not familiar with the functioning of an infrastructure firm. At the Maytas board meeting yetsterday, the directors also accepted resignations that have been trickling in throughout January. The first big resignation after Ramalinga Raju's confession was that of R C Sinha, the first chairman and independed director who put in his papers citing "personal reasons". Later, on 19 January the firm's CEO and whole time director P K Madhav followed suit. The board also reviewed recent developments and decided to meet again advising employees to extent "full support and cooperation" in providing information to all governmental agencies carrying out inspections. Teja Raju has been running the company's day-to-day operations after Madhav resigned. Maytas currently has orders worth over Rs7,000 crore, but rating agency ICRA has suspended the ratings assigned to the company's debt programmes and bank facilities, citing the financial scandal. Apart from these resignations, the board is also one member short due to the demise of independent director C S Mohan. The new board will meet shortly to decide on the future course of action. Meanwhile, the appointment of Narasimha Rao to the board enables the company to conduct board meetings in future. The other two existing members on Maytas Infra board are vice chairman and board director Teja Raju and non-executive independent director RP.
