Mumbai: Anil Ambani group company Reliance Communications Ltd (RCL) will launch online video streaming on mobile phones from November 9 with a mobile cast of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's keynote address. The video streaming can be viewed by millions of Reliance mobile customers across the country, the company sources said.

RCL, which claims to have over 11 million subscribers regularly visiting the portal for content across categories, said the service would allow the company to mobile cast events to all its subscribers.

RCL is looking at video streaming of popular events in a big way and use the mobile device to transmit single location events to millions of its subscribers across the country. It said the potential could be exponentially higher in India compared to developed countries due to the geographic and demographic characteristics.

RCL is also reportedly contemplating tying-up with event management companies to bring in event video streaming on Reliance mobile phones. Sources also said that a Microsoft zone is being hosted on Reliance Mobile World, the digital mobile portal, which currently hosts over 2,300 applications.
