Car-maker Nissan's new advertisement for its electric car, Leaf is based on the backdrop of global warming.

The ad shows shots of the artic ice melting and a polar bear making his way out through forests and city landscapes to thank a Nissan Leaf owner for doing his bid to save his natural habitat by hugging him.

The ad, which was launched last Thursday for the American audiences, garnered mixed responses.

Some found the ad cute and adorable while some critics argued that it is highly dangerous to imply that polar bears are huggable while others criticised the global warming angle used by Nissan, a car company.
