NTPC awards Rs380-crore coal handling plant order to L&T

National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has awarded its Rs380-crore engineering-procure-and-construct order for a coal handling plant to Larsen & Toubro. The order includes the coal handling plant package for the stage-I (3 x 660 MW) at its super thermal power station at Barh, 75 km from Patna.

The order includes design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the coal handling plant complete with civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation work. L&T's ECC Division will execute the order.

The Barh coal handling plant is a green field project and it is to be completed within 43 months from August 2006.

The coal handling plant package to be executed by L&T consists of a track hopper, 3200 TPH conveyor system, two reversible stacker reclaimers and two wagon tipplers. Equipment like paddle feeders, crushers, apron feeders, Grizzly Feeders, and auxiliary system like dust extraction and suppression are also part of the package.
