Schaumburg: Motorola Inc (www.motorola.com) has announced that it has appointed Mike Zafirovski, currently executive vice president and president of Motorolas personal communications sector, as its new president and chief operating officer. Zafirovski was elected at a special meeting of the Motorola board of directors.

I selected Mike for this position and the board of directors quickly confirmed Mikes appointment, demonstrating the effectiveness of our leadership supply process, says Motorola chairman and chief executive officer Christopher B Galvin. Under Mikes leadership, over the past two years, Motorolas handset business has gained market share, returned to profitability and introduced an exciting portfolio of products.
