US federal court dismisses lawsuit by organic farmers against Monsanto news
27 February 2012

The ruling makes it clear that there was neither a history of behavior nor a reasonable likelihood that Monsanto would pursue patent infringement matters against farmers who have no interest in using the company's patented seed products, it added.

US District Judge Naomi Buchwald said the plaintiffs have failed to substantiate their allegations, given that not one single plaintiff claims to have been so threatened.  They also overstated the magnitude of Monsanto's patent enforcement, the company quoted the judge as saying.

Monsanto, a leading global provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products that improve farm productivity, faces on an average 13 lawsuits per year in the US alone, the company noted.
