M&M February tractor sales up 17 per cent; UV sales decline 3 per cent

Mahindra & Mahindra has reported total tractor sales of 6,655 units for the month of February 2006 as compared to 5,680 units during the same month of pervious year - an increase of 17.17 per cent.

Domestic sales of tractors increased by 20 per cent to 6,033 units as compared to 5,034 units during February 2005. Exports declined by 4 per cent to 622 units from 646 units.

Cumulative sales of tractors for the April 2005-February 2006 period increased 31 per cent to 77,702 units from 59,095 units.

Sales of passenger and utility vehicles by M&M, excluding LCV sales, declined 3 per cent to 9,042 units from 9,300 units during February 2005. LCV sales declined by 25 per cent to 416 units from 551 units during the same month a year ago. Total sales of four-wheel vehicles declined by 4 per cent for the month to 9,458 units from 9,851 units.

The company''s best-selling SUV model Scorpio registered a growth of 26 per cent for the month to 2,297 units from 1,830 units.

Sales of three-wheelers declined by 16 per cent for the month to 1,821 units as compared to 2,175 units in February 2005.
