Motorola Inc has launched two new low-end mobile phones, which enable users to listen to music and surf the internet. Motorola plans to introduce the two new products in September in the Asia-Pacific markets initially before making them available globally. According to Motorola, the W388 handset is a music phone. Fitted with a long-lasting battery life, the phone also features a music player with motoID4, VGA camera and Motorola's proprietary CrystalTalk audio-enhancing technology. The W388 handset is expected to cost less than $100 The second handset VE538 is a low-end third-generation (3G) mobile phone, offering one-click mobile social networking, photo uploading as well as blogging on various websites. The price of the VE538 handsets will be around $250. Motorola, is on a strategic expansion drive and plans to launch numerous new devices in 2008. The American firm has failed to come up with a strong follow-up to its successful Razr phone series and has lost out to market leader Nokia and other rivals recently. Motorola currently ranks third in the global phone market behind Nokia and Samsung but narrowly ahead of LG Electronics in terms of sales volume. In a bid to increase sales and cut costs the company plans to separate its mobile phone unit from the rest of the company in 2009 The company recently introduced the Motorola Z6w Wi-Fi -enabled mobile phone, exclusive in partnership with Canadian firm Fido.
