Moser Baer PV emerges first Indian company to install 100 MW solar capacity globally news
08 December 2010

Moser Baer's solar photovoltaic (PV) business has become the first Indian company to achieve over 100 MW solar power installation globally 'under its own brand'."

"This is indeed a moment of pride to be the only Indian solar PV company to have installations of over 100 MW globally. This achievement motivates us to put our global expertise to domestic use and help give a fillip to the nation's solar mission. It is notable that MBSL has provided thin film modules towards the commissioning of the country's largest solar farm in Tamil Nadu," said Rahul Puri, executive director of Moser Baer India Ltd.

Moser Baer already has the distinction of commissioning the first thin film solar farm in Maharashtra and one of the largest roof-top solar PV installations in Surat, Gujarat.

These modules are customised to suit the area of its implementations like residential, commercial or industrial purposes.

Also, Moser Baer's solar modules are highly dependable and banks and financial institutions across the world consider Moser Baer solar modules, which can stand the vagaries of nature for 25 years, as preferred for solar farms. The modules are specifically designed to generate optimum energy from sunlight, the company said in its release.

Moser Baer PV, currently the largest multi-technology solar module manufacturer in India, has installation in more than 82 countries around the world, including Germany, Italy, the US, the UK, Japan, Slovakia, France, Australia etc.

Established in 1983 in New Delhi, Moser Baer is one of India's leading technology companies. Moser Baer's flagship company, Moser Baer India Limited (MBIL) is already the world's second largest manufacturer of optical storage media.

Moser Baer Solar Limited, formerly Photo Voltaic India Limited, is a subsidiary of MBIL.

The company has leveraged its core competencies of advanced technology and low cost manufacturing expertise for high volume manufacturing of optical media products to create a world class photovoltaic manufacturing facility.

Moser Baer currently manufactures 50 MW crystalline cells, 50 MW crystalline modules and 90 MW thin films.

It is also rapidly developing capacity in Concentration PV, which has great cost reduction potential, the company said in its release.
