Luxury car maker Mercedes Benz grossed a record sale of 521 units last month - the highest monthly sales figure in its 15-year existence in India.
The car-maker posted an 80-per cent jump at 521 units in July, as compared with 288 units in the year ago-period. The company's record sales is powered by its popular E class models of which it sold 212 units and sports utility vehicles (SUV) numbering 62 units.
The luxury car maker sold 288 units in July 2009 and for the period Jan-July 2010 it sold 2,922 units as against 1,670 units it sold in the corresponding period the previous year.
"July has been the best ever month in the history of Mercedes-Benz in India. Jan-July 2010 also has been a period of strong growth for us," said Wilfried Aulbur, managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz.
"Commitment to exciting products, world-class ownership experience and engaging customer programs will continue to be our focus areas towards appreciation of our customers for Mercedes-Benz," Aulbur said.
