Seeking to leverage the cost-conscious Indian buyer, Maruti Suzuki India today launched a gas-fuelled model of its multi-purpose car 'Ertiga'.

The price of the 'Ertiga Green' will be between Rs6.52 lakh (Delhi) for the basic version and Rs7.30 lakh for the full-frills version, India's biggest carmaker said in a statement from New Delhi.

The launch of the Ertiga Green was timed to coincide with the World Environment Month, June 2013.

With this, Ertiga will be available in all 3 fuel variants: CNG, Petrol and Diesel.

Ertiga Green is the only factory-fitted CNG vehicle in its segment. Its CNG system is fitted on the conventional assembly line. This ensures a consistently high quality as the vehicles pass through the stringent checks of the assembly line manufacturing process. Ertiga Green will offer a mileage of 22.80 Km/Kg, the company said.

The car further boasts of contemporary i-GPI (intelligent Gas Point Injection) technology. The i-GPI technology uses a Dual Engine Control Unit that delivers calibrated quantity of fuel to the engine, leading to more efficient fuel usage and consistent high performance.

Maruti makes strong claims on safety and reliability as well as service through its national network of over 2,900 service stations.

'Ertiga Green' is the sixth vehicle from Maruti Suzuki with factory-fitted CNG segment. Alto, Wagon R, Eeco, SX4 and Estilo are already offered with factory-fitted CNG option.

Ertiga Green will be available in states with CNG infrastructure, including Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra, and parts of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
