Mumbai: Kinetic Engineering (www.kineticindia.com) has entered the largest segment of the motorcycles category - the executive segment - with the launch of a stylish four-stroke motorcycle, the Velocity.
The Velocity aims to satisfy every need of an urban commuter - and offers more. The executive bikes segment, with over 25 lakh motorcycles sold per year, is growing at a rate of 20 per cent per year. It is seen as a commuter vehicles segment for consumers looking for a two-wheeler that combine good styling and performance with high-fuel economy and affordability. Velocity sports a modern and stylish look with a large and robust petrol tank. Velocity is powered by a powerful and refined 115cc, four-stroke engine that gives 8.4 Bhp power. It gives a mileage of 92 kmpl (USTC). It is fitted with Zapper tyres in front and rear for superior handling. It comes with an MFR halogen lamp, rectangular swing arm for better stability, a twin textured, anti-skid seat and a synchronised rear-adjustable suspension to ensure a comfortable ride. The bike has complete instrumentation with a tachometer, throttle sensor with power and economy modes for riding guidance, a heat shield on the silencer, a pass light and a centralised handle lock. Says Kinetic Engineering joint managing director Sulajja Firodia Motwani: "I am happy to be introducing the Velocity in the market. This marks our entry into executive motorcycles, which is the largest segment of the bikes market. The Velocity excels in every parameter from power, styling, mileage and features that the consumer is looking for in this segment vis-à-vis the competition. I believe that the Velocity represents an immense opportunity for growth for us." Kinetic has priced the Velocity at an aggressive, introductory price of Rs 38,300 (ex-showroom). The launch coincides with the festival season. The company will soon break a national campaign for promotion of the Velocity. The campaign will utilise multiple media including a new TV commercial, press, 22 floats running across the country, SMS, e-mailer and outdoor campaigns. Kinetic targets to reach sales of 10,000 per month of the Velocity by March, which will catapult it into a serious motorcycle manufacturer. Pune-based Kinetic group was responsible for pioneering the concept of personalised transportation in India with the launch of its moped Luna in 1974. It also revolutionised the Indian scooter market by being the first to introduce modern scooters with electric start and variomatic gearless transmission. Today, the group manufactures and sells an entire range of two-wheelers from motorcycles, scooters to mopeds.
