Honda launches new version of CBF Stunner news

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) yesterday launched the CBF Stunner bike in a new version, priced at Rs64,630 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The wholly-owned subsidiary of Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company plans said it plans to enter the high volume 100cc bike segment in 2010.

The new CBF Stunner with its 125cc air-cooled, four-stroke self-start engine that delivers 11.6 bhp is especially designed to appeal to youth. The bike integrates PGM-FI (programmed fuel injection) technology that dramatically increases fuel efficiency (65 km a litre) and enhances performance besides improving overall efficiency.

The PGM-FI technology is responsible for increasing the efficiency, top speed and engine power. The new model is expected to give a mileage of 65 km per litre as compared to 60 km per litre delivered by the earlier Stunner.

Biking enthusiasts would also enjoy the top speed of 100 km/hour that the bike can reach.

HMSI chief executive officer, Shinji Aoyama said that the company sold 10.7 lac units last fiscal and this year they were targeting a 12 per cent increase with 12.5 lac units.

The company plans to make new bike will be available in the market by the first week of June.

Aoyama said, by 2010 HMSI would enter the 100cc entry level motorcycle segment with a model priced between Rs40,000 and Rs45,000.

He said the Indian two-wheeler market was predominantly motorcycle-driven and therefore the company would align itself to the market preferences and continue to further consolidate its position with new launches.

Honda entered the Indian market as HMSI with the launch of Honda Activa, a 100 cc scooter. A slightly modified trendier version of the Activa followed soon, named the Honda Dio.  Honda Eterno was launched thereafter to add to the portfolio of HMSI's scooters.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Private Limited (HMSI) a wholly -owned Indian subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Limited,  Japan was established in 1999 The establishment of the company marked the launch of the fourth Honda automotive venture in India, after Hero Honda, Kinetic Honda Motor Ltd and Honda Siel Cars India Limited.

The HNSI factory at Manesar, Gurgaon district of Haryana is built on a 52-acre plot. Construction commenced in December 1999 and was completed in January 2001. The initial production capacity of 100,000 scooters per annum has expanded to the current.
