A California woman wearing Google Glass while driving was pulled over for alleged speeding.

California resident Cecelia Abadie posted the ticket to her Google+ page, which received 500 comments. Her post bore the caption, "A cop just stopped me and gave me a ticket for wearing Google Glass while driving!"

Abadie added she was cited in San Diego for "driving with monitor visible to driver", and in confirmation, California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed to The Los Angeles Times that the citation was issued for violation of California Vehicle Code 27602, which states:  ''A person shall not drive a motor vehicle if a television receiver, a video monitor, or a television or video screen, or any other similar means of visually displaying a television broadcast or video signal that produces entertainment or business applications, is operating and is located in the motor vehicle at a point forward of the back of the driver's seat, or is operating and the monitor, screen, or display is visible to the driver while driving the motor vehicle.''

According to CHP spokesman Jake Sanchez told the LA Times, officers were not specifically looking out for Google Glass, but anything that could distract drivers.

Google said in a statement, the product was designed for helping wearers to remain in contact with the world and not distract them from something as important as driving.

According to Sanchez, anything that took attention away from driving – putting on makeup, eating, talking on the phone, watching a video was dangerous. He added, individual officers had leeway in issuing a ticket as it was every officer's own judgment on whether the law had been violated.
