Mumbai: GAIL has received the Platts global industry leadership award 2005 in recognition of its global efforts over a period of two decades for the hydrocarbon industry.

GAIL was selected for the award from 200 global competing companies, which was presented at an awards function in New York, making it the only Indian company in the petroleum and natural gas sector to receive the Platts global award.

Apart from the track record and the operations style of the shortlisted companies, the range of other activities relating to environment, customer care, safety, commercial success and innovative skills of the contenders are taken in to account.

The judging panel comprises global energy experts, energy ministers, national regulators, former heads of major energy companies and leading academics and legislators.

The global energy awards were established in 1999 to single out the energy industry''s nbest performers, corporate achievements, the strongest individual efforts, and the most compelling community supporters.
