New Delhi: General Motors India has registered a record growth of 51 per cent in sales in March 2008, compared to the corresponding period last year, since its inception.

The company sold 6,836 units in March 2008 against 4,542 units in March last year, making this the highest-ever monthly sales figure achieved by GM India. The break-up sales for March 2008 sales comprise 1,820 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, 1,589 units of the Chevrolet Aveo, 710 units of the Chevrolet Optra, 2,397 units of the Chevrolet Spark and 320 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.

GM India sold  66,543 units  for the financial year April 2007 to March 2008 against 38,857 units sold between April 2006 and March 2007, a growth of 71 per cent year-on-year. The company has also posted an impressive 57 percent year-to-date sales growth for the period of January-March 2008 over the corresponding period last year.

"Achieving these levels of growth clearly reflects the customers' confidence in the Chevrolet brand and the consistent growth in monthly sales is an indication of the success of all our carlines. With industry-first offers such as 'The Cashless Ownership Offer', and the numerous awards our carlines have won over the year, the brand and the products have exceeded the expectations of our customers in terms of performance, attractiveness and quality, not to mention service and value for money." said  P Balendran, vice president, GM India.

GM India's industry-first unique "Cashless Ownership Offer" has been received with unprecedented enthusiasm from customers and the offer has now been extended to 21 April, due to the demand.

GM India last month announced this industry-first Chevrolet Promise as part of its Fifth Anniversary celebrations in India. This unique, zero-cost ownership program offers to take care of labour cost, parts for all services, maintenance and running repairs for a period of 3 years or 45,000 kilometres, whichever occurs earlier.

General Motors India's determined focus on crafting cars that win customer hearts was reflected at the recently concluded  JD Power Automotive Initial Quality Study, where three models of its flagship brand, Chevrolet, were awarded top honours, including the D Power Automotive Performance Execution and Layout (APEAL) award in the premium luxury segment.

GM India has 117 operational service centres across India with state-of-the-art, customer-friendly, quick-response service points.
