Mumbai: DHL, Danzas and Deutsche Post have announced the re-launch of their parcel, express and logistics businesses' visual identities under the new DHL brand. This announcement follows the one made in October 2002, on the global consolidation of DHL, Danzas and Euro Express into the new DHL.

Spearheaded by their parent company, Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN), the integration of DHL, Danzas and Deutsche Post Euro Express under a single brand will create the world's biggest single express and logistics company. Its aim is to provide customers with one-stop access to the most comprehensive range of express and logistics products and services.

DPWN chose to focus on the DHL brand due to its well-respected global presence and widely recognised values of reliability and speed, a fact well supported by independent research surveys commissioned by the company.

Says Dr Klaus Zumwinkel, chairman of the board of management of DPWN: ''The new DHL stands for a promise of uniform service quality for our customers worldwide - the No 1 express and logistics provider in the world, with a single brand, and a single face to the customer.''

The new DHL, in this region, will consist of three divisions: 1. DHL Express - the express delivery business, the present business of DHL Worldwide Express. 2. DHL Danzas Air & Ocean - representing the former business of Danzas Intercontinental. 3. DHL Solutions - combining the strengths of the solutions businesses of DHL and Danzas including contract logistics, warehousing and distribution.

The integration brings together DHL's market leadership in the air express business and Danzas' global No 1 position in airfreight and No 2 position in ocean freight. It also combines DHL's expertise in the development of customised express logistics solutions and Danzas' specialisation in industry-wise logistics solutions, global project forwarding, warehousing and distribution.

With revenues in excess of €21 billion, the new DHL is the world's No 1 express and logistics brand. ''We see the creation of the new DHL as a worldwide leader in express and logistics as the most exciting project in the transportation industry,'' says John Mullen, DHL chief operating officer, Asia Pacific.

In India, DHL already has a market share of about 63 per cent in the international air express market. Chris Callen, DHL country manager, India, says: ''Now with the new DHL, we are positioned to provide an increased range of products and the DHL Gold Standard of services, across all time scales and weight levels: from parcels to palletised cargo; from air to ocean. We are delighted to be working with DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, led by Trevorlyn Menezes, country head, India.''

DHL is the world's leading express and logistics company offering customers innovative and customised solutions from a single source. With global expertise in solutions, express, air and ocean freight and overland transport DHL combines worldwide coverage with an in-depth understanding of local markets. DHL's harmonised international network links more than 220 countries and territories.

DHL continues to be at the forefront of technology and, with more than 150,000 dedicated employees, guarantees fast and reliable services aimed at exceeding customers' expectations. Based in Brussels, Belgium, DHL is 100 per cent owned by DPWN.
