Mumbai: The powerful Mercedes-Benz SLK 350, with a sporty look, compact and muscular styling, is now available in Mumbai.

The biggest USP of the SLK is that at a touch of a button, the two-seater hard topped vehicle turns into a fully convertible automobile.

The SLK 350, delivers 272 horsepower from its stout V6 engine. This more powerful motor features variable camshaft control and other technological enhancements to make it more fuel-efficient, yet more powerful. Its maximum torque output is reached at a low 2,400 rpm and remains strong through 5,000 rpm.

Mercedes claims that the SLK 350 will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds, with its automatic one -of- a kind 7G tronic transmission. Drivers wishing for more involvement in gear selection on this transmission can choose to equip the Mercedes SLK 350 with buttons on the steering wheel for more convenient manual shifting. Seventeen-inch wheels are likely to be standard, with 18-inch wheels possibly bundled with a sport suspension option.

The SLK 350 contains a rack-and-pinion steering system that replaces the old recirculating-ball unit for better response. Also standard is a larger and more effective braking system, and a new multi-link four-wheel-independent suspension with available sport tuning.

With its eye catching body and breathtaking looks, the new Mercedes SLK 350 is all set to give a new meaning to style and will be available at price of about Rs. 56 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). The authorised Mercedes distributor in Mumbai, the Sanghi Motorcar Co, is distributing the vehicle. Sanghi Motors, among the oldest of automobile dealers since 1920 has, in the past, brought in a long line of sporting machines from Mercedes-Benz. Its group firm, Vitesse, distributes Maruti vehicles.
