Taiwan''s Gigabit and D-Link India to launch range of computers and

Mumbai: Taiwan's. computer hardware manufacturer, Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd, has announced the launch of its range of laptops, LCD monitors, keyboard, mouse, servers, USB flash drives, thin clients, among others, in India in addition to motherboards, graphic cards and ODDs (optical disk drives) already in the Indian market.

The company has a joint venture with the public listed D-Link India Ltd has an existing joint venture, Gigabyte Technology India Ltd, with the Indian company holding a majority stake in the joint venture, which makes Gigabyte motherboards in India..

K R Naik, chairman and managing director, D-Link (India) Ltd. said, "Gigabyte products incorporate the world's latest technology and have become synonymous with quality and reliability in major markets worldwide. The move is in line with our endeavor to provide Indian customers the best they can get in IT hardware segment."

In 2004, the Taiwanese company made a profit of $ 110 million on a turnover in of US$ 1.1 billion. 'Gigabyte' is already an established brand in India for motherboards. With the growing market for PC peripherals and hardware, the company expects to establish a significant presence in India in the next three years.

Yeh Pei-Cheng, chairman, Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd., Taiwan said, "The Indian market is growing at a tremendous pace and we see it as a major focus market for Gigabyte. We have done exceedingly well ever since we have entered this market 3 years back with our motherboards through D-Link. We are looking at repeating the same performance in the new product segments as well."

Gigabyte Technology of Taiwan is one of the world's leading manufacturers of motherboards and computer peripherals and a well-known global brand. It introduced its motherboards in the Indian market three years ago in association with D-Link (India) Ltd which manufactured and marketed it in India. In May 2003, D-Link and Gigabyte formed a joint venture for graphic cards, ODDs and a select range of motherboards in India. Gigabyte motherboards, says a company communique, have a 25 per cent market share in India.
