Mumbai: Ricky Ponting, the World Cup-winning Australian one-day captain and Test player, will be the brand ambassador for the website CricketNext.com till the end of World Cup 2007 in the West Indies.

Says Sanjay Jha, co-founder and managing editor of CricketNext: "Our cricket portal has now become the global favorite, having graduated from a predominantly Asian and non-resident Indian traffic towards world-wide visitors from over 125 countries. Ponting was an effortless choice for us as a brand ambassador — a dynamic, dashing and daring player. We believe both Ponting and CricketNext are a manifestation of one unique brand property — a winner's spirit."

CricketNext will be shooting a television commercial with Ponting, besides creating a dedicated micro site on the Australian one-day international skipper. Ponting will also be writing regular columns on CricketNext as well as doing exclusive interviews. CricketNext will be structuring exciting novel events to market the brand ambassador relationship, including a coaching and lecture series.

Says Ponting: "CricketNext was the official Internet partner for the World Cup in South Africa, and I believe that it is a testimony of their outstanding performance. I was associated with CricketNext for coaching in India earlier in year 2000, and am looking forward to endorsing the most interactive, youthful and exciting cricket website in the world."

Ponting also unveiled a limited edition collectors' series titled Bradman — Captain of the Century, autographed by the late Sir Donald Bradman. This exclusive master-frame is targeted at connoisseurs of cricket and will be available for both direct purchase from the CricketNext office in Mumbai and online buying through the website.
