Cisco-Linksys launches wireless LAN products

Mumbai: Cisco Sytems-Linksys (Asia) Pte Ltd, today announce the launch wireless network compatible products to its range of wireless equipment for local circuit networking. The two products announced include ''wireless-G router'' and push button security device for customers who want more speed and variety in their wireless network at large homes, or at office of small business users.

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems Inc., provides networking solutions for home, small office-home office (SOHO) and small business, in the areas of wireless LAN, VoIP (voice-over IP), broadband routers, network adapters for the desktop and notebook PC, hubs and switches. According to Sanjeev Gupta, regional sales director North and South Asia, Linksys, "The concept of wireless circuits are catching up quickly in India, the market response so far has been overwhelming. This finally helped decide on bringing up more products of the genre."

According to market research firm, Dell''Oro Group, Cisco-Linksys is the market leader in wireless networking with a 46 per cent of the global wireless LAN (local area network) market.

"Wireless takes over a lot of the wiry mess from the office which is the burning demand of our growing customer base in India," says Adil Doctor, sales head, Linksys India. The new wireless application can connect up to 32 wireless clients per router. The router has a NAT (Network Address Translation), Internet Protection bundled with Norton personal firewall.

The Cisco-Linksys wireless- G router is based on MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) technology, which can receive multiple signals over same frequency band. It provides spatial and frequency options with two radio transmitters and three receivers using only one channel. The wireless-G router, it is claimed gives 75 per cent better coverage than the regular routers.
